A Runaway Prince (Lion King Fan Fiction) [Chapter 3]

Upon returning to the den, Neobi and Malaika had all eyes on them. It was past the dinner time for their family pride. Malaika barely noticed she was under surveilance by her father, but Neobi knew it and he had his head to the ground to prove he was feeling it. Just as he thought he was safe, Tendai cleared his throat loudly and it made Neobi's ears twitch. Adeola landed her hazel orbs on her brother and then her father, taking her leave as she knew better than to get in the middle of the dominant male and the runner-up for the same slot as his father.
"Where were you?" Tendai's voice boomed. Zuri had never liked it when her mate had talked that way with her adoptive son, so she made her way over to the dark-maned leader and rubbed her pelt with his to calm him down a tad. Neobi groaned out and rubbed his paw on his mane. He didn't dare look at his father's green eyes in fear that he would reveal everything.
"I just...lost track of the time".

Almost instantly, Malaika's cheeky voice chirped in and shared information that Neobi was trying to hide, exactly. "Neobi met a girl!" She giggled and fell to her side with a smile.

Thanks for looking out for me, sis.

The young adult looked at his father and mother who were looking at each other in disbelief. Neobi was never one to share if he liked someone or not. He didn't even tell his mother and father about who his friends were because he didn't like it when he was questioned so much. Made him feel uncomfortable and like he was being watched over all the time.
"Who's the poor female?" Afolabi's voice cut in. Neobi turned his head to look down at his cream colored brother, whom was smirking at his 'clever' comment.
"There's no female" Neobi quickly answered back. And he hoped this would end it all.
"Yes it is. It's princess Sethunya!" Malaika squealed.
"I don't like her!" Neobi roared. Though his roar was a booming match for his father's own, his brother and sister still laughed at him.

The dark male growled and weaved through his parents to get through and run off, away from the family home. Adeola who was lounging at the top of the hill watching the sunset near the family home watched her brother with his embarrassed face revealing all that they were trying to get out of him. She shook her head and put her head back down on her paws. Sometimes, she wished her siblings were a little more mature than that.

The young male came to a slow walk and caught his breath for a while. While resting his paws, the stomach that no food had graced started to growl like a crazy tiger and caught his ears. He hadn't eaten all day, and he was going to have to get something for himself if he wanted to ease his grumbling belly. His one of a kind purple hues dodged the plants and clouds over the hill and landed on the moving objects of meat; antelope meat. Neobi licked his lips and trotted down to where they were and there was tall enough grass to hide his form from scaring them off.
When he made it down there without any notice, he crouched down and readied himself by swaying his shoulders while low to the ground and grinded his claws into the dirt floor. Finally when his eyes had picked out the weakest, he launched out with a loud roar and gave chase to the quick little creatures. Out of his eye, he spotted a female running along side him. She hadn't noticed him until she saw him looking at her, and to his surprise it was none other than the youngest princess of the West pridelands.

"Princess?" He asked, coming to a complete halt and watching her run after the prancing antelopes. Neobi sat there almost in a complete daze upon seeing her again, but he snapped back when he saw her going after the same antelope as he was...but she failed more than he did. Her technique was all wrong, and she looked like she was throwing her body around to maybe have a grace of luck with catching the beast. He snorted a little, and smiled over in her direction to see her slow down and look at the ground in defeat.

My time to shine.

Neobi ran past her, giving her a smirk and galloped at the antelope once more. It was quick, but he was quicker. Luckily for him, it tripped over its own feet while it was going its top speed and gave him the perfect chance to sink his fangs into its chest, cutting off the last breaths of its life. When it fell limp, he let the head drop to the ground and looked over to the lioness, who was now making her way away from the scene with him and his catch. "You know...you can have it" he called out to her. Her ocean blue eyes looked behind her to him, seeing him stand beside the fresh kill and giving her an awkward smile. Sethunya smiled and walked over with her soft footsteps, and her bright smile beaming at him.
"I don't think I could take your kill" she replied.
"You tired it out for me" he tried to cover. Neobi smiled a fragile smirk and twitched his tail to see what she would say. Her response, a laugh and a "thank you".

The princess walked over to the kill and started to eat it, while Neobi walked up beside her and started to feast beside her.

Dinner with a princess...how lucky does one lion get? Especially when she's so pretty. But you know, not like I think like that about her or anything. Just saying.

"Thank you, Neobi" she said.
"What?" He shot his head up and looked down at her.
"Your name. That is it, isn't it?"
"Oh. Yeah, it is, but...how did you know it?"
She giggled. "Your sister called you that so I assumed it was alright for me to call you that?"
How proper could she have been to ask him if she could call him by his real name? She must have been the highest class of royalty to think she couldn't even afford that luxury to call him that. "Oh, yes. Of course, princess".
"Please...just call me Sethunya" she asked.
"Sethunya..." he smiled and looked down at her, matching her own smile.
"Neobi" she replied.

And of course what was the perfect thing to wreck the moment? Jelani calling to his sister, "Sethunya, come back now. It's getting dark".
She twisted her head to look to her caramel brother, "coming!" Sethunya looked back up at her hunting partner and he smiled down at her, nudging his head to her brother for her to go home. "Thank you for the food, Neobi".
The male looked to the side with a shrug, "no worries. Now go before your brother comes and gets you himself" he joked, obviously getting her approval because of her laugh and smile up at him.
"I hope to see you soon". She was sincere when she said that, making his cheeks erupt with red.
"Y-yeah. You too, I mean, I hope to see you again soon too".

She nodded at the babbling male, and trotted over to her brother who gave the large male across from him the dirtiest glare of dirty glares. Neobi snorted a little and continued to eat, ignoring the stare from her indecent brother and enjoying the thoughts of the princess' blue eyes. So unique, like her entire look all together. And her personality, too.

A Runaway Prince (Lion King Fan Fiction) [Chapter 2]

The light fur from a distance signified that queen Kiara was coming out. And not too far behind was the dark coat of king Kovu. They looked really good together, and everyone else thought that as well.
As the time had passed by, when Simba and Nala had finally let Kiara and Kovu take over the pride, they were unable to produce children. Why they weren't was unknown so they appointed a royal pride on the other side of the pride lands so they could produce a heir for the lands. They came out with three though, so it was up to the main royal pride that belonged to Kovu and Kiara to decide whom would be the best suited for the position of king and queen after them.
"The queen is hot". Neobi looked behind him to his brother whom was eyeing queen Kiara up and down, making Neobi roll his eyes.
"She's old" Malaika told him. If she had said that any louder, he was sure Kiara would hear and Kovu would give them what for.
Knowing this himself, Tendai hushed them up and looked them over with a warning eye. "Mind your manners" he said. Zuri nodded with her mate and leaned against him, while Adeola looked from her parents to the scene with her sister and younger brother and then back at Neobi with an eye roll at how immature Afolabi was sometimes, then back up at Pride Rock.
King Kovu stepped forward with his queen, "Thank you all for coming" he called out. The animals started making noise to say it was their pleasure. Neobi looked over to Malaika with a smile and they both reared up on their hind paws, letting out roars to say the same. That caught everyones' attention as all the animals looked over to the family, making the group except for Afolabi and Adeola laugh. They soon did quiet down when the King was ready to speak once more. "We have the royal pride from the west pride lands here with us today. I introduce to you, king Chitemo and queen Monifa". Everyone looked at the light male and the dark female of the west royal family.

Well, true to the rumors, they are very exotic looking lions, aren't they? They are almost like my mother; the different coats than the other lions and lionesses. I wonder what their children look like. I heard that the children are quite beautiful and elegant.
The west king and queen stepped forward close to each other and looked at Kovu and Kiara with smiles and then looked at each other with smile. The queen walked forward and looked over the large group of animals with a soft smile and then drew in a breath to speak. "Thank you everyone for coming out to see us, we appreciate it. As you might already know, we are here for a visit with our children to see the prides of the east. Speaking of my children, I would like to introduce them to you," she spoke. She looked behind her and a caramel male stepped forward, his eyes were forward and they were harsh. "Prince Jelani".
He sure does look the part of his name, 'Mighty'. His eyes hold no life in them and his face is as stern as a hippo. Is there such a reason as to why he is like this? He is not next in line for the throne, so he couldn't feel the pressures of getting it, but then maybe it is because he will only be a prince that is making him so...serious.
"And my two daughters, princess Tafari,"
[LINE ART DONE BY: Yatima: Yatima's page. COLOR OVER DONE BY ME]

Princess Tafari. Her name means 'first born daughter'. Not much thought put into that, do you think? Oh well, accurate enough though. So she's the one in line for the throne next, huh? I wonder who is going to be her mate and be the next king.
Tafari sat down beside her brother, but he payed her no heed and just sat there. His expression was very easy to read: he didn't want to be here, and he wanted to be anywhere but here. Who could blame him? He was in front of a bunch of animals who didn't know him and he didn't know them either and it's nerve-wracking when so many eyes are on you and you have never met them before. "And my youngest daughter, Princess Sethunya". They all looked back...but no one came into sight.
The animals started to talk amongst themselves and Neobi looked from himself to his parents, who looked at each other and then him. "Where is she, mommy?" Malaika asked.
Zuri shrugged her shoulders and looked forward to the rock once more and then back down at her youngest daughter again. "I don't know, Malaika". Malaika looked at Adeola who looked at Neobi, but he shrugged his own shoulders. Neobi looked back up at the royal family to see them with cross expressions, especially from Jelani. Queen Chitemo stepped forward.
"Thank you all for coming, we will see you all some time soon". With that they walked off from the main rock and into the lion's den once more.

"Well that was interesting" Afolabi said, walking off. Neobi narrowed his eyes on his brother but looked back at Tendai.
"Do you think princess Sethunya is alright, dad?" Neobi asked. Tendai nodded his head and twitched his tail once before looking to his remaining children.
"I have no doubt she is," he looked over to Zuri, "the royals are probably looking for her right now". Zuri nodded. She knew how it was when they were looking for her when she was somewhere else; it was annoying for her when she was a princess, but she was happy now just being a normal lioness. "Don't worry about it kids, why don't you go and play".

It didn't take Malaika a second suggestion before she was launching away from them and bouncing around the grass to play. Neobi sighed out and smiled at her, going after her to play as well. As he walked by, he saw some of the animals looking at him. He was used to it by now. He was, after all, larger than the average male-- almost twice as large, actually. But it was something he was born with and he lived with it, ignoring them, and living his life without listening to judgements. Though he was too busy trying to ignore their annoying stares that he hadn't noticed he lost sight of where his sister had run off to.

The brown male looked around trying to spot the bright beige female, and ran to where her scent was. Sure enough he saw her and walked over to see another lioness with her. This lioness he had never met before, and she was...interesting to look at. While Malaika seemed to be getting her to play, the lioness wasn't even moving and just looking at the little sister. Neobi smiled and walked over to them, seeing the female look at him with an unexplained expression. Either it was something between horror at seeing such a large male or it was because he was a stranger. "Hi" he greeted.
"Neobi!" Malaika happily said, running over to him and putting her front paws on his back, in which he didn't even move since he didn't even feel it on his large body.

The female looked at him and grew a soft smile, "hello". Neobi looked down at her with a smile as well, and turned his body to look directly at the lioness. She was beautiful, he had to say. She had a shiny gray-brown pelt with a pink-gray underbelly with a pink nose and inside her ears. But the thing that caught him the most to keep looking at her was her one of a kind blue eyes.
"I've never seen you around before. Are you new here?" He asked.
The female looked from him to the other side with a light sigh but her smile was still there, "you could say that".

"Well, nice to meet you anyways...," he paused, not knowing her name to address her with. "What is your name?"

Before she opened her mouth, her eyes shot over to see the royal prince and princess. "Sethunya!" The princess, Tafari, said as she bolted over to see her little sister.
"Sethunya?" Neobi and Malaika said in unison. They were shocked that it was the princess that they were talking to and they hadn't even had it cross their minds.

Princess Sethunya. I should have known it was her in the first place, since I had never seen her here before. But then again, I should had clued in when I saw how well she held herself like a princess would, like my mother did. What a great meaning to her name, 'flower' or 'blossom'.
"I--" Sethunya started but then the prince, Jelani stepped in front of her and eyed Neobi with a growl.
"What did you do to her?" He growled. He gave the large male a glare and flared his lips to show his sharp fangs.
"Nothing" Neobi replied quickly. He didn't want to start a fight, and he knew it was probably best to not start anything with the royal prince. At least if he still wanted his family to have a home.
"We saw her, and I just wanted to play with her" Malaika added in from behind her brother.
"Shut up" Jelani snapped at Neobi's sister. Suddenly, that snapped Neobi to roar at the male prince. Jelani drew his eyes back to the male in front of him and backed away a little. Sethunya didn't look startled by the roar at all, as she just looked at Neobi the same as she always did-- soft eyes and smile.
"I know you're a prince," Neobi walked to the caramel male and looked down, "but please do not speak to my family like that". He finished. He sheathed his teeth and claws, letting his tail sway normally and shook his dark mane.

"Please pardon my brother," a voice said, as Tafari walked forward and smiled up at Neobi with a look in her eyes, "he is just very protective over her". As she walked away, she let her tail touch his nose and she gave him a cheeky smile going back to her sister's side.
"Jelani, I'm sorry! I was just looking around and I lost track of time" Sethunya told him, going to his side with her eyes glued to her head in a sad manner. He looked down at her.
"Mother and father want to see you," Jelani looked up at Neobi with a glare once more, "and I want to talk to them about a...nuisance". The prince spat the last part out of his mouth as he turned foot and walked away. Tafari looked at Neobi and smiled.
"I'll be seeing you around, dark one" she walked to her brother and looked over her shoulder to Neobi and then her sister, who was expected to follow.

Sethunya sighed out and walked slowly away, following her brother and sister almost behind them directly with her head down and her ears down, her tail low to the ground. Neobi only watched the youngest princess as she walked away. Sad and guilty didn't suit her face as much as elegant and charming did. "So, you like her?" Malaika wagged her tail and looked up at her older brother.
"What do you mean?"
"You like her. I can tell".
"We barely even talked. You can't like someone if you hardly know them".
"Hasn't stopped you so far" she smiled and sat down. She knew she was right...and Neobi knew she was as well.

She seems nice...maybe I do like her. But nothing more than a friend.

"Whatever" Neobi replied, walking off to the den once more, leaving his sister to follow.

A Runaway Prince (Lion King Fan Fiction) [Chapter 1]

How I got to the point I am in now, I'm never going to understand it myself. When I was a cub, my parents chucked me away to the side to live on my own. Confused and alone, I wandered to his place...the pride lands. There, I met the male and female I know today as 'father' and 'mother'; Tendai and Zuri. They welcomed me to their home and they treated me like their own blood, and to them I am eternally grateful.

Neobi walked out of the pride home, and stretched his limbs. He was the first to rise and meet the sun with his one of a kind amethyst eyes. He was a morning lion, and for his family...not so much. But he knew they were going to wake soon. Not wanting to waste his time at the home, he walked forward and towards his favorite spot where a rock overlooked the water of a small pond where he would lay down.
Like he had predicted there was movement in the side of his vision as a light colored lion came into view. His brother, Afolabi. "Good morning, brother" the brown lion greeted, receiving a look from his older sibling and then his head dipped down to the water like he had heard nothing.

Afolabi. His name means 'born with a high status', and he sure lets people know it. He has never really treated me like I was much of anything. Even when we were cubs...he just doesn't like me at all. But I don't pay much attention to him in the first place like he doesn't with me.

"Where are mom and dad?" Neobi asked, shaking his fur when he got to his feet and looked down at his brother. Afolabi looked up and him and then back at the den. "Still sleeping?"
"Yes, so don't bother them" his voice was quick and sharp. But then again he never was a morning cat, so it was partially due to the start of the day being unkind to his sleep schedual.
Neobi rolled his eyes and hopped down to the ground to tower over his older brother but walked away without a sight to Afolabi's green eyes, "fine, fine".

As you can tell, he's not my favorite.

"Good morning, brother!" A bright, happy voice chirped like a bird. Neobi didn't even have to look up to know the voice was coming from his little sister, Malaika. Neobi smiled trotted over to her as she pranced through the short blades of grass to her brother. Her ears went back and her tail twitched as she licked his mane and smiled.

[LINE ART DONE BY: 95JEH: 95JEH's Deviantart page. COLOR OVER DONE BY ME]

Malaika. She stays true to the meaning of her name: 'angel'. Well...for the most part. Just don't cross her or she can really mess you up. Trust me, as someone to grew up with her, I know these things. Other than that, she's a real sweet heart and always looks out for me. And of course, how could you resist that face? She's a little kitty, this one.

"Sleep well?" Neobi asked, giving her a lick back. She smiled back up at him and looked over at the den.
"Afolabi kept kicking me with his paws" she giggled, "so I kicked him back". Neobi and his sister both sat there and laughed for a while.

Another thing I love about my little sister: she's so cute that she can get away with almost anything she wants and not even my dad will say anything.

When they were done with laughing, Neobi looked over to see his oldest sister walk out with his mother. He found it intruging to watch them as they contrasted so well with each other. Adeola had light fur, while his mother had one of the darkest pelts known to all lions. Adeola, Malaika, and Afolabi obviously got their coats from their father, but both his mother and father had the green eyes to give their children. Adeola took her steps forward from the home like every morning and walked up the hill to where all her friends were laying in the morning rays. Before she left though, she turned her head to look over at Neobi and Malaika and smiled lightly before walking off.
Neobi smiled back at his eldest sister.

Adeola. Her name has the meaning 'crown of honor'. She is the oldest, so she would naturally take over the pride when our father passes away, but she has shown no interest in becoming a leader. You see, for her to be the leader, she has to find a male for herself. But she's not too into being a mate for another lion, and prefers to be a single lioness. Not that she can't get one--- she's actually quite popular with the men. And because of that, she always has me to make sure she's not being messed with. Afolabi couldn't give two sniffs about it.

Looking from her one daughter, mother, Zuri, made her way over to her other two children to give them some morning love. "Good morning, children" she said, having her baby girl Malaika duck her head under her mother's head to have a lick. Neobi laughed to himself and watched amused by his little sister at how much she loved to be loved. Zuri then looked from her youngest daughter to her youngest son with a smile. "Would you like a lick too, Neobi?"
"I'm good" he replied. None the less though, he was pulled down by his mother by her paws on his neck and she started licking him. Malaika laughed and watched as Neobi sighed but let his mother do her business.

[LINE ART DONE BY:TallyBaby13:TallyBaby13's Deviantart page. COLOR OVER BY ME]

That's my mom, Zuri. I couldn't have asked for a better adoptive mother to come and find me. I truly believe that she was meant to find me, and I was meant to be lost from my birth pride to find her and this family I now call my own. She has to be one of the most unique lionesses on the planet. Her pelt has the most genius colors and her personality is nothing less of a great mother, lover, and friend. And of course, the moment she walks by someone, they instantly surrender their attention to her. But that's normal for her-- you would think that royalty would have that effect on people. Even though she isn't a Queen or Princess anymore, she was once and she obviously still has that aura around her.

Zuri sighed out after she was done licking her son and moved her neck until there was a crack. It caught Malaika's ears and she walked over to her mother and licked her ears. The gray lioness smiled down at her child and shook her away lightly to show she was alright. "Sore, mom?" Neobi asked.
"Just a tad. I didn't sleep well last night," she looked up to her tall son, "your father moves a lot in his sleep" she chuckled.

"Not my fault; I'm a big lion" a voice bellowed from behind his mother as she looked behind and up at her mate. She let out a purr, rubbing her pelt on Tendai's chest and he smiled down at her. Malaika smiled and sighed out, wishing one day to find the kind of love they have while Neobi smiled and looked down at his sister.

This is my dad, Tendai. His name means, 'thankful'. Why 'thankful' you ask? Well, when he was a cub, his mother was too young to have a child so she was having a hard time getting him out and alive. And if he did come out alive, she would be dead. Turns out in the end, they both survived and he lived to be a big, sturdy lion. But he was kicked out of his birth pack when he went with my mom...he never told me why, so I just leave it be. For now, at least.

"Good morning, dad" Neobi said, walking closer to his father. Tendai smiled and lightly put his head to his son's with love and a purr, while Neobi copied. Malaika jumped on her father's back and giggled, making him laugh as well.

Yeah, I have the best family.

When the morning first started, the other animals came running from their fields, the lions getting out of the way to it being a possible stampede. Neobi caught sight of his bird friends and roared up to them to get the attention of the beak bearing animals. "What is going on?"
"The royal pride from the west pride lands. King Kovu and queen Kiara invited them here". With that, they flew off and continued on their way.

Zuri and Tendai looked at each other in confusion, as they had heard nothing about it prior to the arrival. None the less, it was something that peeked their interests, and they started walking forward for their kids to follow. Afolabi stepped forward beside his father, holding his head up high but Malaika bumped into him as she ran past with a giggle making him growl. Neobi rolled his eyes and walked past his brother and parents to walk beside his oldest sister whom smiled over at him and kept walking.

When they finally reached Pride Rock, the animals cleared a way for them for them to go to the front of the audience. Neobi was so interested in what was happening that he hadn't noticed that he had eyes on him from all angles, but they looked back up at the show from the large, high rock to see what was going on.
